Blogging from my tiny room in Durham, England (Oct 2005)
I started this blog in 2004, a debut was written, and then abandoned. In a way, I feared the new fad, puzzled as to why people call it a diary, when one writes with the acute awareness that it will very well be the basis of opinion of others about oneself. So you ask, what changed? I left the comforts of home for an old English university town in called Durham, and there my blogging journey began. What started as a means to keep dearly missed family and friends updated, became a much-treasured repository of thoughts and memoir of experiences. Although I am back in Singapore now, insyaAllah I will keep writing, as long as niat (intent) stands firm, as far as privacy permits and as often as time allows. For my future grandchildren, your grandma’s journey continues…
